Sage Construction history
Sage Construction was formed from Tekton Group Ltd following the acquisition of Tekton Group Ltd by Sage (UK) Ltd, part of the Sage Group plc, on March 28th 2008. But how did it all start?
Intuita Ltd was the foundation stone for our strategy, specialising in consultancy, software and services in the ERP arena. Intuita Ltd was originally founded in 1985 as SAM Systems, later becoming part of Anite plc, and was a supplier of accounting and distribution systems. In 2001 an MBO was undertaken from Anite plc. Intuita Ltd then acquired the Unisys Construction practice to bring on board the CONAX and Prospero construction applications. The cutting-edge Intuita product called Unison Construction was launched in 2003 following 1,400 man-days of development investment. In 2004, Intuita Ltd released Unison Fulfil for distributors in the construction industry. Unison Fulfil was later sold to Infor to leave a standalone construction business.
Tekton was formed in December 2005 by Richard Beaton as the rebranded vehicle to consolidate what was a fragmented market in software suppliers to the construction industry. EVision Limited was acquired and has achieved phenomenal growth in ERP sales based on the Microsoft DynamicsTM platform and was the ‘most purchased’ new business solution in the industry in 2006. It is still popular with those in the construction industry today and continues to be developed in conjunction with Microsoft technology.
In June 2006, Tekton acquired Construction Information Technologies Limited (CIT), the leading supplier of estimating, cost planning, bill production and post-contract solutions in the industry. CIT has a strong customer base which includes household names such as Carillion, Skanska, Kier Group, John Sisk & Sons and Lovell Partnerships.
Tekton’s final acquisition was that of SiteStream Software Limited, which was acquired from US-based MiTek Systems in December 2006. SiteStream is the most technically advanced housebuilding software solutions available today, enabling housebuilders to maximise profitability at each of their developments from the first land appraisal right through to production, sales and onto customer care. SiteStream is the most advanced commercial business system available to housebuilders, with clients such as Gleeson Homes, Cala Homes, Bloor Homes, Galliford Try and David Mclean Homes. In addition, integration work between EVision and SiteStream has been done to deliver a fully integrated financials and commercials system to the housebuilding market in the UK and Ireland.
Wes Simmons, General Manager of Sage Construction, comments: “The acquisitions over the years have enhanced our ability to provide both current and new customers with an even wider portfolio of integrated and standalone best-in-class products. Most importantly, it increases our expertise in the industries we currently focus on, expanding our capabilities to serve additional markets with the same commitment to quality and service that our customers have always expected from us. As Sage Construction, we now have an unmatched combination of solutions and unrivalled knowledge of the construction industry and its supply chain. Testament to this is the fact that we are now launching the best estimating, cost planning and post-contract solution available in the market today – EValuate.”
