At the heart of Skanska UK is 'Our Way of Doing Business', which links our customers, people and systems.

As many of you will be aware, our existing IT system for commercial, Financing and Procurement is ageing and needs replacing.

Over the last year, a complete review of our systems, in close consultation with all nine operating units has been undertaken to identify the options available to us. Our underlying IT system can be seen as the backbone of the company, which links all our specialist capabilities and enables our people to deliver their customers' needs. Any new system must deliver both these needs today and support those requirements as we grow and develop the company.

However, we also want to keep things simple and flexible.

I am delighted to announce that we have entered into a formal contract with Intuita for the delivery of the new system entitled ‘iCON’. This system meets our needs today and has the capacity and flexibility for further development as we grow our business over the coming years.

To maximise the benefits of iCON to Skanska and our clients, we must integrate the way all our operating units use the system. This will involve some changes in the way data is inputted and managed.

A steering group, headed up by EVP Finance Philip Carré, and made up of representatives from across Skanska UK’s Operating Units has been formed. It will be the responsibility of this steering group to oversee the successful installation of iCON throughout our business during a phased programme over the next 18 months, which will be followed by a further 18 month business support programme.

Each Operating Unit must put the necessary management commitment and dedicated people to ensure that iCON is successfully embedded into their organisation and way of doing business.

The successful implementation of ICON will be a substantial stepping stone along Skanska UK’s path to being the best contractor in the UK.
